I'm guessing I toasted something.

It's fixed! It runs ok now and the vibration is also gone. I just got home an hour ago, I don't like to call customers after 9pm so I will call you in the morning. I still need to wide band it and set the air fuel ratio but it will live!

See folks, this is why you take things to the pros. What could have taken me months to diagnose probably took them no time at all. AFP has my loyalty for sure.

Nothing Now. I will let the owner post the cause if he wishes.

The suspense is killing me too. I'm guessing a broken flywheel bolt. When I find out tommorow, I'll surely post it here. No matter how embarassing it may be for me.

And the winner is...

U Joints!!!

The red blur guessed this one too. Thank goodness for AFP, who knows how many parts I would have replaced before getting to that point :hail2:

let it be a lesson for all of us!

let me guess, your uncle is a mechanic?
why would the vibration "come back in no time"? The joints looked to be original...and lasted this long...but there again, I am just a dumb mechanic that works on cars for a living (and hasnt lost a finger to a spring yet :rlaugh: )

Convert mounts are minimally stronger than standard, but nothing compared to poly. poly mounts are great but if you dont mind the shakes they give ya, just go solid. I had solids in my car and loved them. Probably overkill for a daily driver however.

Stupid mechanics, there just mad cause there broke.

Mad? nobodys mad....just confused how you are more "in the know" than someone who works on Fords for a living...and seems to do a pretty good job at it. We have lots of cars running around with steel drivelines and havent had them be nearly as unreliable as you are trying to prove. Besides, aluminum is crazy expensive right now, why not wait till its cheap. U-joints are a very small fraction of what a new shaft runs.

The broke part...well what can I say, we dont rape our customers but still make a living. What more do you want?

Stang Source.....hows it feel now?

AFP rules. :flag:

Now you guys just need to clone yourselves and have a shop up north to. :)

I live in Oregon and my shop is in Washington, that is north! Just kidding. Thanks for the kind words. Every year when we drive up to the round up in Belleview It makes me appreciate all of the people who drive down to have us work on their stuff. :nice:
