I'm in Deep Sh**T...How bad is this?

So I was driving and hit what seems to be a big hole on the freeway and heard a loud crack...Got home and looked under and was amazed at what I saw (Pics below). Looks like my control arm got ripped from the chasis and frame. My uncle says it should be able to be welded back but I don't know, it looks bad.

:jaw: Is that the rear upper?!? Ive only seen the lowers do that, how big was the hole? Grand Canyon?
So sorry man, Im not a welder but I am sure its fixable. I would get battle box reinforcments for the lowers and make another reinforcement for the uppers. Def cant drive it like that, might loose the axle :notnice:

Rear Upper...If I remove the back seats I'm pretty sure I will see the whole...I drove fine for about 3 thours though. When I took it home I did some testing and when I hit the brake down and accelerated fast the wheel would turn almost 90 degrees side ways (maybe not that much but still scarry)....I saw the other side and it looks like its just a piece of "L" shaped sheet metal holding the control arm to the frame, the sheet metal came off but it brought down part of the chassis, hence the hole

As far as the hole, maybe fist big...I was about to finish paintint the car now I have to wait and see how much this will cost me!

Holy crap!!!

There has got to be some kind of "freak accident" to tie into that somehow. A fist sized hole is not even that huge, but damn that caused alot of damage!!!

I would imagine it can be repiared... but please, have someone competent do the job and do it well. You do not want that seperating again.

i hope you have full coverage on your insurance....cause if you do...that falls under comprehensive damage.

if you do have full coverage, all you need to pay is the deductible, and since you claim it on on your comprehensive your rates "shouldn't" go up not only that, if you get picture of the pothole and show your insurance, they will go after the state to get their money back, if they get more than they paid for the repairs, you get the remainder of your deductible back too.

I agree, find that hole again and take a picture of it. it was no fist sized hole that did that. Get your ins. on the city.

wow... UCA Torque Box Failure.....
JUST WANT SO SAY YOU ROCK....:nice:

I've been going crazy the last 2 hours looking online for what the hell those parts were called! Thank You. I think everyone should replace these to be safe

Now my next question is do you think i can still install one of these after market kits eventhough i have the big hole:nice: ?

I will post a video tomorrow on what the tires do to freak you guys out!

WOW!!!!

thats ford quality for ya!!!

Considering this is the first I've (and most other people posting) have heard of something like this... :Zip2:

As to that area, I could probably weld it and I have minimal skills. I weld crap on the snow plows all the time and they take some brutal hits. I would think almost any shop would be able to handle the repair. Maybe check and see if you have any local off road shops. The welding they do is mostly re-inforcement and fab stuff for rock crawlers any way.
