i posted on the classic forum and no one could give any input. i figure my setup is a 5.0 mustang running gear so that could be the problem.

ive been a lurker here for some time so now i joined today. my question is about what 1/4 mile time can i expect. im looking for a ball park figure and also input on my combo i will most likley run in the 1/4 mile. it seems the fox bodys can get mid 12 sec e/t's with this so what would a 68 mustang get with some street tires or even slicks???

my proposed setup is

a low mile 93 cougar roller short block. i have the stock cam but will most likley run the E 303 cam i have. gt40 iron heads, explorer intake, 65mm throttle body, i have 19 lb injectors i dont know if i really need bigger ones or up the fuel pressure? ecm is a A9p soon to get a tweecer though. long tube headers 2 1/2" exhaust.

trans is a t-5 wc 4 cyl svo turbo one 3.97 first gear. i know it will blow up but it held up under a beating from the more stock old 302 i used to have in there. a cobra spec t-5 will go in later though.

rear end is a stock 8" 3.00 gears.

thanks in advance for any input.

Thats a tough call.

I had a 66 coupe with a stock 302 efi t5 and it went 15.50's consistantly. I could have gotten more out of it.

I would think that you could get deep into the 13's with that set up.
How much does the car weigh???

I have basically that set up in my 66 coupe and I think you can expect 13s easily.

The real issue will be traction - getting the 5.0 power to the ground in a car with an extremely light rear end. You'll want the biggest rubber you can get out back with traction bars of some sort (slapper, CalTracs, etc) and a good limited slip diff - also plan to do a relo on the battery to the trunk.
You might upgrade to some 3.55 gears as well, the 3.00s are a little high for a 1/4 mile car.

Good luck...
