Let me start by saying I still have my stang....in fact she's going in next week for a conversion from auto to a t-56 and hopefully 120 extra horse via a meth kit and going from 8-13lb's of boost. But......I unexpectedly have a gm in the stable now.
I had an offshore cat for sale and advertised that I accepted trades and I got real interesting offer that included a vette. I took it.
The car is immaculate. It's a 99 FRC (fixed roof coupe) with 55k original miles and clean as a whistle. Car has a TON of mods 408 ci block, forged everything. AFR Heads, Comp Cams, Kooks Headers, Xpipe, Corsa exhaust. Fully built t56 with a DTE rear end. 2 stages of nitrous. 1st 125 fogger 2nd 400hp direct port with meth. roll cage.. the car has two sperate tanks, one for the 116 octane race gas for the 2nd shot and another for the meth. Car uses pump gas and is very civil, Makes 520hp and 518 tq at the wheels all motor. Car has 4k since mods. previous owner had it to the track one day. He had only a 75 first stage and without hitting the second he ran 10.70 @135. So with a little practice I should be well into the 9's with both stages.
I just got the car and thought I'd share a little bit. First, I've never been in a vette and it has really changed the way I view my stang. I viewed my stang as a sports car but it feels more like a muscle car to me now. This car is lowered and man, you're on the ground. When sitting in the vette it feels much more like a cockpit. It rides and handles like a big go cart and kinda makes the stang feel like sloppy in the twisties. The sound is different, stang is definately better sounding. With the exhaust set up on this car when you get on it....it absolutely rips, it sounds like a nascar or something....just screams. Build quality on the car sucks though. My stang, one year newer and similair miles is WAAY better put together. There's not rattles or anything but all the pieces just arent' very tight fitting. It's hard to explain but if you sit in one with 50k you'd see. The car is very "raw" in comparison to the stang.
Power wise this thing is a beast. Right now it only has 275's on the back. That will change soon. The car is just absolutely brutal. Even 4th gear 1500 rpms, you get on it and it flat out goes. I'm no where near to experimenting with the NOS but the car has 2 20lb bottles so when I do there will be plenty. Here's a few pics. I have a feeling I will be keeping this car the rest of my life. It's just too much fun. One other grip though. All the fiberglass on the body is very gay. You can see where rocks fling up on the inside of the rear fender wells and cack the glass. I will be be looking at how to prevent that and repairing the few minor cracks.
