Let me start by saying I still have my stang....in fact she's going in next week for a conversion from auto to a t-56 and hopefully 120 extra horse via a meth kit and going from 8-13lb's of boost. But......I unexpectedly have a gm in the stable now.

I had an offshore cat for sale and advertised that I accepted trades and I got real interesting offer that included a vette. I took it.

The car is immaculate. It's a 99 FRC (fixed roof coupe) with 55k original miles and clean as a whistle. Car has a TON of mods 408 ci block, forged everything. AFR Heads, Comp Cams, Kooks Headers, Xpipe, Corsa exhaust. Fully built t56 with a DTE rear end. 2 stages of nitrous. 1st 125 fogger 2nd 400hp direct port with meth. roll cage.. the car has two sperate tanks, one for the 116 octane race gas for the 2nd shot and another for the meth. Car uses pump gas and is very civil, Makes 520hp and 518 tq at the wheels all motor. Car has 4k since mods. previous owner had it to the track one day. He had only a 75 first stage and without hitting the second he ran 10.70 @135. So with a little practice I should be well into the 9's with both stages.

I just got the car and thought I'd share a little bit. First, I've never been in a vette and it has really changed the way I view my stang. I viewed my stang as a sports car but it feels more like a muscle car to me now. This car is lowered and man, you're on the ground. When sitting in the vette it feels much more like a cockpit. It rides and handles like a big go cart and kinda makes the stang feel like sloppy in the twisties. The sound is different, stang is definately better sounding. With the exhaust set up on this car when you get on it....it absolutely rips, it sounds like a nascar or something....just screams. Build quality on the car sucks though. My stang, one year newer and similair miles is WAAY better put together. There's not rattles or anything but all the pieces just arent' very tight fitting. It's hard to explain but if you sit in one with 50k you'd see. The car is very "raw" in comparison to the stang.

Power wise this thing is a beast. Right now it only has 275's on the back. That will change soon. The car is just absolutely brutal. Even 4th gear 1500 rpms, you get on it and it flat out goes. I'm no where near to experimenting with the NOS but the car has 2 20lb bottles so when I do there will be plenty. Here's a few pics. I have a feeling I will be keeping this car the rest of my life. It's just too much fun. One other grip though. All the fiberglass on the body is very gay. You can see where rocks fling up on the inside of the rear fender wells and cack the glass. I will be be looking at how to prevent that and repairing the few minor cracks.

Very clean. But i'd personally not buy a car with that much done to it, especially in the case of nitrous. 408 is killer, tho.

well, I was concerned just about the sheer fact that I don't

A) know the first things about vettes
B) especially don't know the first thing about nitrous and man this thing is complicated.

I had my tuner who does my cars come out and spend time looking, checking, and driving the car to make sure everything was thumbs up before the deal was done. He confirmed the quality of install and the quality of parts used in the build. He told me this thing would be civil enough to run around town and get groceries and yet go to the track and put down 9's with some appropriate tires and some driving practice. I was just looking for another very reliable FUN street car that could boogey down the track on the rare occasion..... My guy said this set up will last a LONG time and there is literally not one weak link that he could think of upgrading, they have all been done. He estimated $60,000 in mods and labor to do a build like this.

nice ride! The 408 is a nice lsx build. I have seen this car on the boards over the years, but I don't remember where. I will dig a little deeper.

Looks like a strong car. The FRC has great lines. There is not a whole lot you can do about road rash and rock pitting. It only gets worse when you add more rubber. That's just part of having a c5.

Looks like a Jersey car. Do you know who did the work? ECS, Vette Doc's?

520rwhp should be good for 10.5's on motor alone. DTE makes the best rear end out there for c5's. Are you going to race the car, or just have it as another toy?

man...... you got that stuff fast. Ya, he sent me those links before we even did the trade. I did some digging and found his username on some of the forums. He obviously drove the car, which he didn't hide one bit, in fact he told me about all of it. I mean, you don't build a car like this and then drive like a grandma, or at least i wouldn't. But he obviously built the car to live up to hard, but responsible non abusive driving. My tuner confirmed all the right parts are here for the car to be driven as intended and live.

no i won't be racing. Maybe a quarter mile a couple times a year. Just basically a fun street car that can more than handle those pesky exotics in CA.

as for the rocks, I haven't taken the wheel off and looked up there yet. there has to be something I can do....spray some ryno lining on the inside of the fenderwells? use some plexiglass to deflect rocks? i don't know we'll see.

Yep, I agree. Obviously, this car has been driven.

You pay to play, and I would bet that you have the money to play Sweet car! Launching a c5, especially with that type of power, requires a lot more out of the driver.

Your car/color combo is one of the most sought c5's out there. Only 1000 of your cars were made.

Just beware of the electrical gremlins of these cars. Pull your codes out of the DIC often, GM crap goes wrong all the time. Nothing really to do about the crappy interior. Does your car have the HUD?

Dude thats sweet as hell and congrats!

I had a 99 red FRC and loved that car, was hella fast with the little 5.7 and 345 hp so with another 200 its gotta be fun. Go find some open track or SCCA SOLO events in your area and take it for some fun on a road course. I gaurente in a car like that you will be hooked, just gottabe gental on the go pedal in teh corners with that much power.

car does not have HUD, i'm assuming that means heads up display?

It's a force offshore, a small custom west coast builder. The hull is actually layed up by eliminator in their facility though. A skater that size with that power should be a nice reliable 100mph boat. Reliable being the key there. I went a different route and while faster my boat is going to need alot of attention.

As far as the electronics. I don't know what all has been replaced, but I know the car has a bunch of racetech wiring on it. Or at least I think that's the brand my tuner told me. Hopefully that will take care of all the essential running gremlins.

I have to be honest. I've been looking around this car am still thoroughly confused by the set up. There is just plumbing and tanks everywhere. I wouldn't even know how to use the nitrous right now even if I wanted to. There are switches for bottle heaters, Purges, on and on. Crap scares me right now more than anything else. Early next week I'm taking the car to my tuner for a few tweaks I want done to the tune on the dyno, and he is going to sit down with me and go over the whole car giving me a breakdown of what is what where stuff is.

I was very skeptical of the color from the pics but everyone I talked to said it's rare and looks awesome. when it showed up in person it was very nice, and different.

here's a small clip he took you can here the exhaust and see under the hood. Car sounds super loud in the vid. It's not as loud in person. It has a nice tone when cruising then just screams when you get on it.

SteedaGT9150 congrats on the new whip. if you dont mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

I'm kind of retired. I'm 29 now but when I was younger I was looking for a way to avoid college (hated school) so I started a little net company that took off and I sold it a few years later (nothing you guys would have heard of). I'm very fortunate how things turned out.
