I'm putting a hitch on my 5.0

i dont think the hitch on my car is all that bad. heres a pic of it. dont mind the dangling light connector that i need to do something about. the car will pull the hell outta that boat but braking is another story. i need to upgrade to 13inch brakes in the front. even w/ a 5spd it does decent on the ramps too. one day i had a civic with a fart can try to race with the boat on the back and i still outrun him

heres a few pics of the boat

its a 15ft 70 sidewinder with a 140 horse johnson 4cyl.

Where did you get that hitch? Be a good way to haul stuff to the track and such.

a place called marine warehouse here in wilmington. i paid around 120 bucks for just the hitch and had them put it on for 50. my drill bits wouldnt drill through the bumper for some reason so i just had them do it. their number is 910-799-1277. you can call them and see if they can ship you one if you are interested in a hitch. i get the wiring from uhaul for like 8 bucks and spliced into the tailight wiring. the hitch will hold 200lbs at the tongue and will tow i believe 2000lbs.

Rent a truck with a trailer to tow the car not the other way around. Why would you want to destroy a nice looking ars for something you are going to do maybe only once??

PLEASE DON'T DO IT!! I think others would agree.

I did that in 1997,again, cross country. It cost 1200 beans. It's now over 3000:eek:
And I don't have to much to bring. So it's waisted space and waisted money IMO.

I had a hide away hitch on both my 93 Lx 5.0 vert and my 90 Lx 5.0 hatch. Bolted right up and since it was an Lx no cutting of the bumper. Used it to trailer my quad around.

I have the hitch, ball and wiring if anyone is looking for one. Located in Queens NY.

Mucho thanks man.

I had a hitch on mine. Came in handy when I helped the gf move.
You should have seen the guys face at Uhaul when he saw what I was towing with lol.

Car had plenty of torque for it. Didnt really notice the extra weight.

oh yeah... pics.

lame

Words can't express just how lame that is.

If you need a hitch once in a great while, borrow a friends or family members truck with one on it.

If you need a hitch often buy a beater.

There is no place for that on a Mustang. :notnice:

i bought my hitch for one reason. i got tired of relying on someone elses truck to borrow so i could put my boat in the water. i cant justify buying another vehicle for the sole reason just to use it to tow my boat 15mins to the boat ramp so i bought a small hitch thats not really that noticeable to put on my car. if you dont like it i could give a rats ass about your opinions. it serves its purpose for me.

Settle down, my post was in reply to the original poster.

How red neck is this? :D Anyone else do this?

lol, i agree that it is kinda redneck but it is what it is. if i had the money or could use a truck at anytime i would have done it but in the summer i usually go out on the water every weekend and it was a real real pita before i got the hitch. so i bit the bullet and spent the 150 bucks to purchase and have it installed. i have an sn95 and the bottom of the bumper is black anyways and i dont think it looks that bad personally. i cant relate on a fox car though.

+1 I put a hitch on my 94GT and it can hardly be seen- really you have to be on the ground to see it. I pull my GSXR up to Tennessee at least once or twice a year with it. First time I went I stopped at a gas station in Georgia and the lady behind the counter said "boy, don't you know that them mustangs is fer lookin purty, they ain't made to pull stuff with!" :D

lmao, you wouldnt believe the looks i get from the rednecks when i pull up to the public boat ramp here in carolina beach in my mustang pulling my boat. the rednecks with the mid 90s z-71 with the trashpacks and the hunting hats always give me wierd looks and stare at me.
