Hey guys i need some support...I'm training in Mississippi and then im heading over to Iraq in the end of July. I've been down here since the beginning of May. Is it ok to say that i miss my mustang more than my girlfriend? Thats how I honestly feel right about now and idk what im looking to get out of this thread but we'll see. I'm 19 from Massachusetts I have a 2002 yellow GT. I love it and I pretty much shedded tears when closed the garage door knowing that it was the last time I was gunna see it for the next year. I plan on saving most of my pennies while I'm "over there" so when I come back home I can sink some money into it. Feel free to put any suggestions as to what i should start with. Right now she is completely stalk. I'm thinking about starting by doing the basic's with a complete headers back exhaust, cold air intake, chip, and a short throw shifter....as to what brands i should use im not sure....I've spent the past 4 hours on these forums reading to see what people have to say about what they have in theirs. Mainly because i didnt want to do this because im a "newby" but i guess everyone has to start somewhere. I have a good basic knowlegde about cars and brands and what not. But hey I'm not in the infantry because I'm smart...lol. I'm planning on sinking $7-8 grand into her when i get back home next summer.....so with that budget in mind let me kno my best options....ty

Also i have a couple of questions too...i know like i said im new. What is the stalk hp and tq that a normal gt puts out? With that kind of budget would it be enough to supercharge it? If so what else would i have to do to so the engine could handle it? I'm thinking probably FRPP 4.10, stage two clutch, aluminum flywheel, and the rest of the basics....

260hp/300tq at the engine. 7-8 grand would be more than enough to buy a complete sc kit and have it installed. if your gonna get a blower some lowers gears might be a good choice, i have no experience in the matter but ive heard regrets of having that much gear on a boosted car.

good luck over in iraq too man.

Good luck man, being away from your Mustang and your girlfriend will just make you appreciate them more when you get back. Stay safe Try not to make your car and spending money on mods consume your entire life plan/goals. Put some in the bank.

Best wishes, stay safe, and thank you for serving your country!
I don't know about supercharging, since my baby is still slow, lol, but you mentioned a shifter, and I gotta tell you to get the MGW! I've got it in my 2000 and it's awesome, and I just bought my husband one for his 06 (he doesn't know yet tho - it's for Father's Day). That's one mod you won't regret.

dude, trust me, when you get out here, you'll have plenty of time to hash out some combo's in your head. I've been here since August 2006. The only bill I have is an insuarnce payment and beyond saving for the future, my GT is getting lots of work done. My uncle's taken my stang to a local speed shop twice to have these installed:
- BBK LT's and catted X-pipe
- 4.10's
- 31 spline axles and diff
- H&R supersports
- Koni reds
- Steeda pullies
plus I guarntee there's a few stang bangers in your unit with you. I have 5 in mine alone and we're a small MI unit. Oh yeah, the PX's sell 5.0 Mustang, MM&FF and Modified Mustangs here, that's what got me into serious trouble!

Lots of options. How fast you wanna go is relative to how much money you want to spend.

Take care over there Brother,,from one veteran to another,,,THANK YOU and BE CAREFUL!!!

Good luck over there. If you will have that much money to dump into a car at once, get a supercharger (Kenne Belle or Vortech). The bolt-ons won't compare and you'll have less hassles. The only other thing you should get are sub-frame connectors and gears.

FWIW, I know you'll miss your stang but I have seen many guys lose their girlfriends when deployed. Whatever you do, DO NOT give her power of attorney or any other financial access. Don't get soft and propose marriage or worse yet, get married before deployment. Save your money for your stang and your future. Start making plans NOW for your life after you ETS such as college, tech school etc but NOT marriage until your goals are accomplished. I have been active duty and reserves for over 20 years and you don't want to know half the stuff I've seen happen with military spouses.

Sorry for the rant, but this is the speech I give to the new privates in my unit. I wish you well.

Do you know where you will be in Iraq yet? Ive been to several out there and I might be able to shed some light on what you have in store for you.

Where else were the rest of you based out of while in Iraq. We were at Tallil (Cedar), but since we were in transportation we pretty much went everywhere.

I'm suppose to be at Anaconda (Balad) but lately I've been working out of Warhorse (Baquba), but yeah, that's the way it works!

Is that down at Arifjan in Kuwait?

I saw quite a few Mustangs on the roads in Kuwait during missions we had down there.

Anaconda is the place to be. Movie theatre, multiple PXs, nice gym, etc. Warhorse sucks IIRC. Isnt there pretty much nothing there? We picked up a few conexes from there and took them back to Anaconda. I remember every time we went there there wasnt ever any toilet paper in any of the port-a-johns.
