So I took my shift boot off to adjust my Steeda Tri-Ax this weekend, and noticed some transmision fluid around the bottom left bolt..I used gasket maker when I put it on..So whats the deal? I am slightly worried.
Well, from the looks of it, it probably sloshes around constantly, and if that gasket or RTV isn't sealing completely, it seems logical that some fluid may splash up. I wouldn't worry TOO much, but when you put the new bead of RTV on, be sure not to overtighten and squish all the RTV back out, and what I like to do is apply the rtv, then allow it to sit for 15 or so minutes, to get tacky, then put it all back in place.. this allows at least a portion of the RTV to vulcanize.
