whell while my intake is off, i decided to check my rockers again. They havebeen making alot of noise when the engine is hot! last week when i put em in i set the preload at or around 3/4-1 turn past zero lash(which i find by using my hand on the rocker till i feel no up/down movement). Now, my car has been making MORE noise with these quality ford racing ones vrs. the proforms that broke on me, and i used more preload this time. OK, so now where im at now, due to the fact that i have peds and i have to shim it, i cant get an exact preload of 1/4 turn that i was told. however on some i have got 1/4 turn, others have been almost 1/2 turn. eaither way, im using more shims did i did, and basically setting LESS preload. well see what happins when i get her running again, if this doesnt help, im def gonna have to say that its my stock lifters. Oh whell, also i will be installing my explorer injectors, now that i can tune em with teh fpr. if you see any problems with what i have done, please tell me, but im guessing that as long as there in that area, they dont all have to be exactly the same, right? i mean i have had to use various shims, like one or two to achieve the 1/4~1/2 turn im trying to find, is that normal, having different valve lengths?...unless its my lifters that have some broken parts....hmmm

I wish I could help you out but I'm only familar with the stud mount rockers. Do you have to have your lifters primed before checking preload?

whell, i just got err done, using the much lower preload, and woah was it noisy at startup!! for around 10m, it sounded like hammers hitting the v covers. then when it warmed up, it quieted right down! i dont know, is this the way these things should be?
