hello people's I am changing my valve cover gaskets on my 97 cobra and had to remove the upper intake, I was wondering if anybody here has removed there IMCR plates, and port matched the lower intake? if so please share your experiences and results thanks. any feedback is greatly appreciated. I figured since this is alot of work already I could gain some free mods, here is what I have so far,
4.10 gears
315-35-17 BFG's on 17x10.5 wheels
flows, h-pipe K&N cone filter, ZEX 100 shot best time somewhere around 12.5....

Did you just have to remove the upper intake hat to take off your valve covers? Did you have to do anything with the Brake booster, or Clutch cable. I am getting ready to do this in the next week, and any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I have an extra set of Valve covers that I am doing a two tone paint and polish job on that I am going to install. Thanks.

Jeff.

Jeff I had to remove the upper intake because of the EGR fitting and other misc. components that would not allow the valve cover to come out. For the removal of the driver side cover, you will not need to remove the master cylinder, you will need to disconnect the Clutch cable from the quadrant and the firewall, you will also need to loosen the driver side motor mount and raise the engine in order to get the correct angle to remove the driver side cover. I was able to remove the upper and lower intake and driver side valve cover in about an hour and a half. I have not removed the passenger as only the drivers side was leaking but who knows I had to buy a complete gasket set from autozone cus they dont sell just one side, so when I remove the passenger I will send you more info on the removal of the passenger side cover. thanks.

Bro there is no worries, I clicked on your link and saw your motor very impressive... what are your mods? your car makes some very impressive numbers. I know that 98's were built a little better than 97's. without the juice on my car I only make 260 horse and around the same torque. with the juice it makes 315 horse and around 300 torque my best time is somewhere around 12.5.

Here are my mods. They call me the freak at the local shop. I make quite a bit more than most of the cobras that dyno there with the same or similar mods. There is a 97 there that is modded with everything I have except that he has a Catless X-pipe, and a Bassani cat back. He puts down an average of about 12 less hp and 10 tq than me all of the time. Just lucky I guess.

Well your #'s sound about right 98 cobra's had a better tune on the PC from the factory and if I am not mistaking they had higher compression and also more agressive cam profiles. I dynoed those exact #'s on your first pull to this day.

I used to work at Brothers performance and there was a character there who had a 98 cobra, he showed me his time slip and dyno #'s I was like damn very impressive... and very little amount of bolt ons...by the way what is ur best time so far in the quarter? and MPH?
