I have a 1998 Mustang GT vert with offroad H pipe, BBK intake...and I get smoked by 99-04stangs everytime I race them....

but...

Some dude wants to buy my car for 5000...

So here are my choices...

I could sell him the car and put it down on this sweet PI GT that I found (2000 Black GT vert 5spd, Triple black, 49,950 miles...1owner)

or....

I could sell him the car, go to MPSautosalvage.com and get that 99 V6 body with a clutch, run to this wrecking yard in McGregor Texas (like 15miles away) and get this 351Windsor that they have for 650, have it dropped in with a manual transmission...what would you do?

keep your car, PI swap with aftermarket cams, done

alot cheaper, alot easier

Agreed. Unless you WANT to sell your car dont. If its in good shape it will hold its value.

If you dont want the involvment of a head swap (which sounds like it wouldnt be a problem if you want to buy a V6 and go through the 351 swap, which isnt direct) just set out to buy a blower.

Off the top of my head, to do the V6 to V8 swap you would need:

1) K member.. But maybe not.. I think the 3.8 might share the same motor mounts
2) Transmission. The V6 did use the T-5, but I think it was a weaker model.
3) Rear-end. The V6 used the 7.5". I believe they let go around 300rwhp.

I think you would be better to:

1) Do the PI swap and have more power than a stock 99-04 because of the higher compression
OR
2) Sell it and buy the newer GT.

I think the only time you'd want to do the V6 to V8 swap is if you're stuck with a V6 in the first place.

I did a Full PI swap and with some other mods too and i KILL my buddy with a 2000.. (ok his car is almost all stock but its still kinda funny) :nono:
If i were you.. If you like your car alot, and like 94-98 body style, then keep it and do a PI swap with some other mods, or go get the other PI stang. Do NOT let some junk yard do a V6 to 351 swap.. i see how bad that hack stuff out, plus it i dont think it would be worth it..

is there anything even done to the 351w?? probably not since it is $650 and therefore not really worth it unless you are throwing in a built motor. i saw pi swap or if you gotta have the 2000 get it. I love my 2001. wish it was a stick though.
