Rebuilt my engine to 306 w/ Trickflow TW heads, TFS1 cam and Typhoon intake. REALLY liked the power but it didnt plant you in your seat until 3k rpm. Mind you, this is in an aod car.

Came upon a Performer intake cheap and slapped it on to see if i could get a lil more low end grunt. Well, it did the job. The plant you in the seat factor comes on much sooner, at about 2k you can start to feel the power build. I dont know about the top end yet because i havent had a chance to really rip on it yet.

With the Typhoon upper it would keep on pulling HARD right up until it shifted at 6k, i'll let you know how it is with the Performer upper, so far ive only taken it to 4500-5000.

But with the new intake its much more snappy and the it builds up steam faster when i downshift. So far so good and i'm happy with the results, still keepin the other upper for the day i get the s/c :D

Hmm, interesting. Seems to be more AODs in here than corral. I am going the opposite route. I have been running the Performer EFI manifold for quite some time now. Yes, it will pull all the way to rev limiter and has lots of torque down low. My problem is no traction off the line, even with slicks. Ran 12.7 easily, hitting rev limiter 50 ft from finish line at 104-105mph. That run should have been faster, my 1/8 was 85mph and could have been a 106-107 mph as I always do 84 in the 1/8th for 105mph in the 1/4mile. Do you have any time slips? My car is h/c/i aod also.

My calculations (running similar setup) show that even with a 26" tire you should have had an easy 10MPH left in your car at the rev limiter (meaning rev limiter should kick in at 117) assuming a lock-up converter. Are you running a non-lock? You sure you were into the rev limiter?

Yes, sure did as I have a non-lockup convertor mixed with lower gear ratio and 4.10s along with a much shorter slick 24.5x8.5 M&Hs. With the 26x8 MT slicks, noticed I was around 5800 rpms at the finish line. You see, the M&Hs being a shorter profile slick actually made my 4.10 gears into 4.34 gearing. Between the two slicks, I felt the car run faster with the smaller slick in the quarter mile.

Ok, makes sense now. I'm going with a lockup right now, but I have 4.30's and am looking at possibly running a 28" tire eventually instead of the 26" that I have now.
