Looks close, but can I swap a cam out of the 5.0 engine in my '66 without pulling the engine? Can I get away with removing the radiator, or does the grill also need to be removed?

Yup, I would pull the grill, its not that many screws. No real issues.

yep, like horse sence said, pull the grill, radiator, latch assembly and it is a straight shot in and out with the cam. I did it last spring, works out perfectly.

If you don't already have it heres a tool thats worth it. Save yourself the time of removing the intake.

Man, the luxury of roller lifters. That is a great tool, I just wish I had lifters that I could re-use.

Thanks all. I pulled the intake, and proceeded to remove the push rods and lifters...until I got to intake of #7 cylinder (which was in the vicinity of where my stethoscope was giving me the tickey-tickey feedback....I was one cylinder off, btw.) #7 intake lifter would not slide thru the bore....it was mushroomed and yes, I could see thru the casting hole in the block that the edge of the lifter was baked. Kinda weird after 3 years of banging on the motor on weekends....couple of 1000 mile weekends too. So, I wasn't interested in dropping the lifter into the oil pan, pulling the chassis cross member, dropping the steering tie-rod, etc....so I came up with what I think was a brilliant solution....if I don't say so myself! I videoed this, so I'll probably post it. Took a cardboard tube from gift wrap. Cut a rectangular hole in it for the lifter to "drop" into it. Slid the cardboard tube into the cam journal... let the lifter drop into the slot, and took a magnetic probe and pulled the lifter out...it was sweet. OK, we're going with a roller cam and I cannot wait for the results. CT
