I had all parts in my engine compartment replaced last autumn after engine fire. The parts where new carburettor, electrical harness, Unilite, coil etc. All parts where the same make and model as before. However, I have made two observations:

1. The car uses approx 30% more gas on same trip (to my summer-house). I drive the same highway at 60-70 mph with same payload, bu use more gas!!!!

2. When idling, the rear exhaust exit blows black marks on the pavement

I have approx 12 degrees of ignition advance

Can someone give me a step-bystep checklist?

(Happy anniversery everyone)!!

It sounds rich if it's blowing black crap out the exhaust. Very rich if it is marking the pavement. Would also be why you're guzzling fuel.
