I would think you could warp the housing that holds the control arm. We thought about that but didn't know what it would do the metal you wanted.

Well i got mine out tonight. Here's how.

Sawsall on the side where the nut comes off. Cut inside the housing support where the rubber bushing is. I nice new blade will cut through in a min or two.

After that, take a grinder to the head of the bolt and take it off. After that, a quick wiggle and it's out.

Oh yeah, make sure the front is unbolted first. Fortunately i had the axle out of the car so i had room to work

Well, here's an interesting update.

I was hacking away happily at the bolts with my new sawzall, until I came to a point where there was no bolt exposed, only the sleeve. That stupid sleeve took the teeth off of all of the saw blades that I had. Today I decided to go to my garage and get my air compressor and air tools. I have a die grinder with a cutoff wheel that usually cuts through anything I put it against. Loaded up the Cherokee and headed to the car. As I was backing up the driveway with the compressor, I pulled the truck out of reverse and let go of the clutch. The truck suddenly jumps backwards. Puzzled, I wiggle the shifter back and forth to discover I now have no gear selection at all. The trans is stuck in reverse. In addition to that, my other beater, a 99 Saturn, cracked the head a week ago and is now knocking. I am currently without a car altogether, since my sister is borrowing my v6 Stang.

Aside from that, I took my cutoff wheel to the control arm bolts. I cut the axle side off with no problems at all. Went to the body side and got the nut side cut no problem. The other side was a bit tricky. I ended up cutting the control arm on both sides and removed it from the car, leaving the rubber busing with the metal sleeve around it on the car. I cut the sleeve on both sides and pried it off, lit the rubber bushing on fire, then sliced through it and pried it off. After that, I made a slit with the cutoff wheel in the side of the sleeve and pried it open with a huge flathead. That managed to do the trick FINALLY. I have the driver's side all put together, and the passenger side fully dismantled. Hopefully tomorrow I will at least have it back down on the ground, even though I still don't have the drag launch springs I want. This is turning out to be a serious pain in the arse. I'd better see some launch improvements after all of this!
