Inner Tubes with ET Streets.. Are they a must??

A buddy of mine just scored a set of ET Streets and ET DRAGs at a swap meet, he's gonna sell me 1 of the 2, but im not sure if you HAVE to run inner tubes with them. He said he's heard some guys run without them, and others run with them. So do you have to have inner tubes? Is it kind of a situation of sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt??

You don't HAVE to. The reason guys do is because bias ply tires leak air slowly through the tire....very slowly, but still. Personally I would run without them and just fill them up every so often. (we're talking weekly not every few hours). The reason I say tubeless is because if you run them with a tube and the tire spins on the wheel when you launch the valve stem can break off the tube....voila, instant flat tire.

I've never run tubes. I never wanted the additional rotating mass. As far as leaking down, mine will after about a month maybe but that's nothing.

Good point. If you're going to run tubes definately run rim screws. My tires spin on the rims about 2 inches after about 10 passes. Doesn't really matter I just always mark them to keep an eye on it, then gotta have rebalanced when they start acting goofey.

Keep an air tank handy if air pressure is crucial to you. You could lose 1/4-1/2 pound in between rounds. Good point about rotating mass. I've seen people lose .3-.4 seconds running tubes. Be sure to throw a few extra pounds in the tires during the week if the car sits. 1 of my tires loses 4-5 pounds in a week while the other loses nothing. No holes, just typical after the are used for a while.
