Ok so theres been a vibration in my car since we installed a new engine, for money and time reasons...we reused the old flywheel and cobra clutch and balancer.. everything was suppose to be 50oz setup. Vibration peaked at 4k rpms, was there with belt off, was there with it in neutral. Vibration could be felt in shifter the a good bit. Swapped harmonic balancer with little effect. I do have new poly bushings on tranny and engine mounts, it is a tremec.
This last week I removed the transmission, and today I took the flywheel off. Along the way I noticed two thing.
A) the throw out bearing had no single rotating axis what so ever.. it wobbled BAD while I spun one side while holding the other in my hand.
B) the flywheel has this part number.. V2122-V2123, which I believe is the correct 50oz flywheel. Another number on it was..24 F 02, which I dont have a clue what that is. Either way, it has 5 good size holes drilled into the backside/wieght. Is that normal?
Now.. I have two ideas.. either the crank is an oldschool pre '83, aka 28oz, and thus Im going to need a whole new 28oz setup. OR the combo of the throw out bearing and a most likely unsurfaced/unbalanced flywheel was causing the vibration... Any suggestion guys?
