I had a performer intake, holley 650 double pumper, and an edelbrock rpm cam, stock 289 heads. The engine had over 100,000 miles before the supercharger. The thing with the supercharger is you up your primary and seconday jet on the carb. I think it was 72 primaries and 80 Secondaries. The carb ran rich at lower rpm, but would lean out in high. It could be tuned better but I was having too much fun. The fuel pressure rises on a 1:1 ratio with the boost pressure too. Before the supercharger I was running a holley 450 and averaged just under 20mpg on the highway.

My daily driver, an '04 Ford Mondeo (DIESEL - yuk, but our fuel prices kinda mean that's the only way to go) has a good 10% error (under-reads) on the speedo. I compare it with the sat-nav speed readout which on the straight and level should be 100% accurate. At an indicated 110mph, I'm actually barely tickling 100. I think all cars readout this way (the last three I've had do) judging by people's driving habits sitting at an indicated 80mph on the motorway when really it's a little over 70.

Road safety nannies? Possibly.

not to be a smart as*, but how about buying a 300 dollar ford aspire or something.

My '89 Mercury Tracer gets about 30 mpg. I don't miss using the Mustang as a daily driver at all. My gas gauge on the Tracer is at empty today so I need to get gas again, and I can't remember the last time I put gas in it. What a great feeling!

Shop around and ask friends and family. There's bound to be a cheap, or even free, car out there for you, and for much less $$ than a T5, gears, or EFI conversion. Any "mileage" upgrades spent on your Mustang will be hard to recoup in gas savings. There's only so much you can do for a 3000lb+ car.

lol yeah i realize that, im one of those ppl that dont look at how long it will take to make the money back, right now it gets me about 4 trips to work and back before i have to worry about it( and thats no crusing inbetween, i have the use of my dads 95 s-10, witch gets about 30 mpg, but takes me to work and back only 4 times (dosnt sound right ill have to do a mileage check next payday) and its only like 10-20 $$ less to fill that up (i may not make alot but all i have to do is put 100 a check aside so i do have about 250-300 for my self ...darnit that reminds me next check ill only have like 150 for me, need to get a graduation present for an ex (trying to get back with her)....

Oh a question, i was told that a 4 bbl carb and intake would get me better mileage and power, where is the best place to get an edlebrock rpm intake, i looked at autozone but thats like $120

One thing that is glaringly apparent is that the buying power of the Pound Sterling is very weak in comparison to the US dollar. The official exchange rate may be $1.80/ BPS, but the practical rate is more like $1/BPS. This is reflected in the disparity in the price of Autos, petrol, food, taxes. I've worked with trained professional chemist in the UK who were barely paid the equivalent of $20,000/ year and could not afford the cost of an auto, much less a house.

Some people like to have 2nd car that get's better mileage. But you need to consider not only the purchase price but how much it costs to register, Maintain and insure that 2nd car. Alot of people will not save much by going that route.

Notice you live in Arizona. How far are you driving to work? I didn't own a car for most of my 20s, just bicycled and motorcycled everywhere. I wouldn't even consider using the Mustang for daily transportation in my situation - I drive the economy car for that now.

Yeah, things have changed a little over here now, there was a big government enquiry into car price fixing, but it was only when people were buying from the continent did the domestic prices for new cars fall. We still suffer from 'rip off Britain' because people are still stupid enough to pay the prices thay are charged rather than do without or buy over the internet. When I last visited the US (April '04) it was the same as it always was - you pay in dollars what we pay in Sterling, pretty much one for one.

You guys would not believe house prices over here...

Good point but if you're still with parents another car can be added rather cheaply to their current insurance, and it also depends on your insurance company. My Mustang is with their "under 1000 miles/year" policy so it's really cheap, and insurance for my Tracer is even cheaper. My insurance now for both cars is cheaper than my Mustang was by itself.

Of course I made a mistake of buying a 5.0 for a daily driver 2 years ago and almost doubled my insurance.

lol i prob go about 1000 miles a month...i live about 30 miles from work(i live in a small town in the middle of nowhere) im only 17 so i cant get a bike yet (or id do that) my parents are planning on taking me off the incurence next month so im gonna be fubared ill be a high risk 18year old with a muscle car...(perfect record tho)
