I successfully replaced the window regulator on my 66's drivers side today.

Not too difficult but some work has to be done blind as you know if you have done this.

I found another issue, in that the inside door lock handle does not spring back into the "home" position as does the passenger side. What drives the handle back, is it possible I am missing a spring somewhere?

Problem solved!

Yup, a little bitty spring, im not promoting a site, but here is what you need...

DOOR LATCH SPRING STAINLESS STEEL 1967-1970 | CJ Pony Parts

If your handles are wobbly your can replace the whole assembly for like 15 bucks or so a side while you are at it.

Thanks Robbz
I have a 66.
Those are sold out so I may have to purchase the entire latch.

I got the problem solved by replacing the "Door Handle Shaft". This part contains the spring (in the back) that produces the force required to return the door lock handle to it's resting position.

Here is an image of the old part and the package from the new:

It sure fit nice and solved the problem. Hard to believe how many things are worn out on the car, but it is old.
