SO I didn't know, until yesterday, that newer cars don't get the exhaust probed. They just plug into the computer. So with a tuner, can you pass an inspection even though you may not be within regulations? Like if you have an offroad mid pipe?

I think I have to get my Mach inspected next year, but from what I've heard is that all they do is hook up to the OBDII port and look for any codes thrown. If their is none, then you passed. If they do a decibel test I'm busted.

They will still do a visual test on the car and an o/r H will fail unless you find a lazy inspector or a "hook up".

Well I want to get a catted prochamber. I just used that as an example. They didn't look under my car though.

So I am guessing that is a big yes. And holy doo doo your numbers are good. I never noticed you had that much HP. Is that on a 2V motor?

You can pass with a aftermarket tune. Some scaners can actaully tell if you have messed with the ecu progam but they are too expensive for a smog place too own. If you return it back to stock before the test you need to put about 100 miles on it before you go in for inspection.

+1 For years I took my car to the same place and passed, even with my o/r H pipe. Then this year, same place, different employee, he looked under my car and wouldn't pass it because there were no cats. I had to swap the stock pipe on, bring it back (it passed), then swap the o/r H back on.

yup, still a lowly 2V.

I passed in OH with:

- 2v Stroker
- Ported Heads
- MPH Blower Cams
- No EGR
- Longtubes
- Catted Longtube X
- Rear O2 sensors are turned off in the SCT tune.

Previously, I passed two times with no cats and MIL eliminators. They just plug into the OBDII port and as long as the green "OK" shows up you're good to go..

I have the FRPP C springs and my car is low enough that their checking mirror can't get far enough under the car to see the midpipe. So they just give up.. I don't think they get paid enough to get down on all fours and look under my car.
