I have a mach 460 with the six disc head unit. I replaced the head unit with a Kenwood KDC MP522. It sounds terrible. All my cd's sound like I am listening to a garage band play live.

I used two wiring harness', one for the head unit and one for the amps. The harness for the amps only included power, ground and RCA wires.

After the install only the main 6x8 speakers were playing, No tweeters. The tweeters in the mach 460 were not powered via the amps. They apparently feed directly from the head unit. So, I connected the front and rear tweeters to the Kenwood.

First, I cannot fade to the front but I can fade to the rear. Don't remember if I could do this with the stock head unit. But with the Kenwood the rear over powers the fronts.

Second, the sound is terrible. I know the mach 460 is not great but it sounds 10x better then it does with the Kenwood.

I have tried adjusting the bass, mids, and treble. No luck. The Kenwood has a built in adjustable crossover (settings: Pass Thru, 100, 125, and 170). It sounds best set to 100 but unacceptable.

I ask you what is wrong with the setup.

I'm sorry to hear that. So what's happened now with your Kenwood set up? I hope it was fixed because it sucks having a Kenwood that does not work. :SNSign:

it depends on who's harness you used. Some poeple have had luck with decent sound and others sounds like yours. I ALWAYS bypass the factory stuff, just sounds better.
