Piece of cake, 1.5 hours, including polishing up the tubes to a high luster.
This is one nice SS system. well worth the bucks. 1 man install, put the rear up on Rhino ramps, 9/16" deep socket, 3/8" regular socket, the included hex wrench was all the tools required.... Sound is exactly what I wanted...
Thanks to U. M. for the recommendations... Now for that K & N FIPK...sigh... just about everyone out of stock until the middle of the month.

Thanks again,
Rex

Had mine installed on thursday. Sound is great. Quiet at idle and small burble at slow speeds, but get on it, and it screams. Love it. Did you do
x-pipe also? Another thing I like is if you keep it at around 2000 rpm at like
40 mph, it almost sounds like it is cammed, off the gas just gliding.

waiting on the K&N FIPK......

Put about 100 miles on it.. love the way it sounds, even with the Top Down..
Dusted my Boss's modded 93 40th Anniv 6 speed Vette... he said the exhaust sounded great... lmbo....

You did this on the 04?

When you say "catback", that's everything after the H-pipe, right? So that's the mufflers and the rest of the pipes after the muffler? Did you have to cut the stock pipes out?

yes on the 04 Cobra Vert.... no cutting on the cobra... pipes run below the axle not over.... 4 bolts 2 each side holding old exhuast to the stock catted H Pipe. 3 rubber hangers per side. lube well and wrestle the metal hanger welded to the exhaust pipe out of each... MagnaFlow catback goes back on with the same 4 bolts up front..to a mid pipe on each side... then the polished Stainless mufflers with 2.5 inch exhaust clamps supplied, then the tail pipes, also held on mufflers with 2.5 inch exhaust clamps supplied, then the 3 inch diameter Chromed MagnaFlow Tips.

not sure if you can get the exhaust out on a solid axle car without cutting it.

Well, you can.....if you want to drop the rear end out.

I put a Magnaflow on my '03 and loved it. When I sold it for the '04 I swapped it over to the new car. I tend to drive with my window down even in the summer heat 'cause I love the sound so much. Just crank up the AC.

Pvteye - How are you looking as far as clearence between the tips and the bumper cutouts? You want to have at least a 1/4 inch gap so the tips won't melt the plastic. I got a PM just the other day from a guy who melted his on the pass side!

I made sure there I could insert my finger between the pipe and the bumper... this makes for easy cleaning too...

As for hp... I saw a dyno sheet somewhere on an 03/04 cobra that made 27hp on this magnaflow cb mod alone... I will dig up the URL....

As for melting the tips... man that sucks
I feel the pain though... I had a party at my house one night... after the party was over, I pulled the cobra back into the garage.... I ended up slightly denting the front fender as I smashed the BBQ grill into the wall of the garage... ( don't drink and drive, even in your own garage way ) -

Hi UM,

I have about 3/8" to a half inch it appears at the closest point.

The passenger side tip was slightly close to the cutout after the initial install and tightening. After comtemplating loosening all the hardware and trying to get better clearance, I simply place a towel over the tip, sat beside the car and gave it a slight foot modulation, turned out perfect.

After the 100 mile run, I put it back on the ramps and checked all the fasteners for tightness, everything was fine, and tips are still in place.

Boss called today and we talked about the HorsePower TV episode, and yesterday's little run. Told him "I have always wanted to own a Vette, and yesterday I did" lmbo... he did not take kindly to the remark... mumbled something about a Procharger, lmbo

terrydf - your sig's dyno results... nice gains from the magnaflow... I have a question about the K&N CAI... is that the FIPKII Kit or just a drop in K&N air filter? Reason I ask is your dyno results only give it 12hp... it is worth at least 25.... I saw a dyno pull two weeks ago in STL with the guy's hood up he netted 33 on a stock cobra with magnaflow CB...

Its the FIPK. I think my results are typical. K&N included a dyno sheet with the parts that suggested high 20's can be expected from the mod. However that is for a stock car. I suspect that if I had done that mod first, it would have produced their predicted results and the cat back would have been less. These cars seem to immediately respond to help breathing.

I had people tell me to expect 405 RWHP from the combination of CAI and catbacks, which is where I ended up. There was a noticible seat of the pants change after each mod.

I have them both too... the FIPK2... not sure if it is different than yours... the car does feel a lot stronger now for sure...

Your results will certainly be higher with the o/r x!
