Installed MIL's 1 hour ago ~ "Service Engine" light still on. Drive Cycle?

Hey Guys,

I installed the splice in MIL eliminators for my off-road x-pipe on my 2000 Saleen a few hours ago. The problem is the check engine light is still on...


Of course when I unplugged my battery to do this it went away for 10 minutes or so after I turned my car back on but came back on the way home.


Is this normal after installing MIL's? Do I need to complete the Ford Drive Cycle first?


I have a court-date next Wednesday and need to get this tag done asap to get my tag!

I (mustang shop) installed them on the back, not the front. I'm guessing the light coming back on is not normal and the drive cycle link I post has nothing to do with this?

So what did you end up doing? I really don't want to spend $400 on a tuner just for emissions. Research leads me to believe that I may need to complete a drive cycle before it resets... not sure though. Experienced users ... chime in?

I would try unhooking the battery again for 30 minutes or so. Then take it out and drive 20 or so miles on the highway. If the MIL's are installed correctly this "should" fix your problem. That is what I would try next if I were you.

I'm running to the Advanced Auto Parts a mile away and see what codes are running causing this the light to come on.

Depending on what happens there ... I'll try the battery.

I do know my mid-pipe exhaust needs some new nuts and bolts ... it's leaking a bit. Perhaps that's what is causing the light.

I'll report back in 20.

I just took the black(negative) cable off of my battery for 30 minutes ... hopefully this will fix it?

2 Codes are causing my Service engine light to come on.

P0136 and P0156 (Both rear o2s)

Anyone else have any ideas?

both rear o2's??? hmm......maybe they aren't installed correctly?? don't know what to tell you man, check to see if anyone around you can disable your rear o2's just to get rid of the CEL.

and the tuner does so much more than just that, think of it as a purchase you were already going to do??


best thing would be for you to get under the car and check if they are spliced correctly.

I disconnected the battery for 30 and drove around for 10 minutes and it never came back on.

Earlier, it came back on after 2-3 minutes and a restart.

If in the morning it acts up again ... I'll get the tuner installed.
