Installed my Christmas Present

Redline Tuning's Hood lifters

Here's a video of mine opening

This isn't a paid advertisement, I just found them by searching Stangnet, but I'll tell you the quality of the hardware and instructions is top notch and the price is the cheapest I've seen anywhere. $50, before Christmas, anyway.

The rods are chrome plated and the black painted cylinders have very nice "Redline Tuning" decals on them. Install time was an easy 30 minutes, even for me.

The instructions have full color photos specific for each particular car.

Can't go wrong. Now that POS prop rod is where it belongs, on the shelf in the garage.

Are these safe with an aftermarket hood such as the Steeda Q400?

When I had my '99 and '01 Formulas, you could not use the OEM struts with an aftermarket hood because they were valved so stiff that when you went to shut it you could actually break the hood.

If it will work, I'm on these like stink on poo.

Just be careful

I installed them a few weeks back and made the mistake of not getting one of the upper brackets flush with the rib of the hood and it pulled out of the fiberglass. So I drilled an access hole in the side of the rib and dropped two bolts in and bolted the bracket to the hood. I sawed off the end of the bolts and filed them down. It came out great and the bracket covers the hole I drilled. Anyway I did the other one for good measure. They are a great product though.
