how much is to much to get gears installed cause the cheapest price i could fine was like 350 bucks and i think that is way to much to get gears installed. and is it hard to do ur self or no

200.00 would be if no bearings need replaced.
I havent heard of a price higher than 300.00 around here.
I checked with Dayton 5.0, they have a gear, installation, and fluids package for around 400.00! I guess that wouldnt help you, since the cost in gas would be higher than you would save...But just a thought.
Gear installs are expensive. Out here at least. Most shops start at $700 and go up from there.
I was fortunate enough to find and have mine installed (along with new axles and diff) for $350 out the door.
So, it's really not too bad of a price, but remember you get what you pay for.

has anyone heard of precision gears... that what i just bought from a performance shop.. are they any good?also will i have a hard time catching traction with my 4.10s. the guy at the performance shop said that he used to sell alot of nitto drag radials but now that they sale mickey thompsons he said they sale more mickey thompsons.. any adavise?
I think it is worth it to have gears installed professionally. Unless you REALLY know what you are doing AND have the proper tools such as inch pound torque wrench and magnetic base dial indicator.
the price really depends where in the country you are. here the cost is usually a minimum of $600 and usually around $1000.
i plan on doing mine myself, but i have all the tools, i have complete instructions from alldata, and i will have guys helping me that have done them before.
you know how on the tv show trucks he has the level of difficulty scale. i would say gears are on the hard level. they are easy if you have done them before, but if you have never done them before i would highly suggest not taking on the project yourself.
also make sure they do everything, all bearings and seals as well. and consider getting studs and a cover with braces.
