I ordered a 6 pt cage from MM and it should be here this week. I'm trying to get NHRA legal so I can run in some NHRA tracks. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make this install go a little easier? I plan on welding it into the car to decrease the extreme twisting that is happening during launch.

I ordered mine friday, so i cant give you any first hand help yet to be honest.. i did talk to the MM guy for a while before i ordered it, and he said that the main hoop and rear bars can be welded outside the car... he said to put it all in the car (minus the door bars), and bolt the 2 rear support bars to the main hoop, right where you would weld it to the hoop and top of the spare tire well. mark it, take it out of the car, make sure your marks still line up, then weld the sucker outside of the car. He said you could just bolt it up and weld it outside without trial fitting, but he wouldnt because of flex on cars, and he said most of them have very small differences in measurements.

Thats what the dude told me at least... i guess you get it in there and assembled, then bolt the sucker down and mark the points where the 2 back bars meet the hoop bars (the 2 short ones that are pre-welded to the hoop) then make sure everything is happy at the tire well area, then take the whole unit out of the car, make sure the makrs are still on there, then go nuts with the welder.

let me know how it goes, ill be doing that soon, but ill be paying a welder here in our body shop to do it. my dumbass would end up welding my nads to the floorpan or something.

I got mine today and already got it in for the pre-fitment trial. It almost should be UPS shipable ($144 truck freight...ouch!), but must just come in over the weight limit. I just got to remove the body seam sealer, mark it, and remove it for the first welding, painting and final install by the weekend just in time for the race Saturday. Good Luck!

Dude, if you can, you gotta take pictures!!!!! Im excited about getting mine (should be here today or tomorrow) and i was kinda pissed about the freight cost too, but what can ya do..

I can take pictures.....it is out to be welded right now. I am having some minor issues. I bought the swing out front bars and the ears that hold the locking pick look a little crooked which they work but does not say a lot about there quality. The second issue is the rear braces seem to be about 1/2" too short. I fitted everything and to get everything to sit flat and I had to extend the rear braces out to sit flat on the rear wheel wells. Now the gap is too big to weld the rear braces to the main hoop. I think I can shorten the feet on the main hoop to move it back 1/2" but I should not have to modify it to fit. I choose MaximumMotor sports because I thought they had better quality....I think maybe I was mistaken?
