installing a pro 5.0 shifter

I'm in the middle of installing my new pro 5.0 shifter and I've gotten everything off of my stock shifter except now I'm right down to the base and I can't seem to get it off...is there any easy way to get it off that I don't know about? I was trying to pry it off and that wasn't working either...please help

I just did mine last night and had the same problem. I got under the car and used a screw driver to pry it off. Here is the link where I talked about the install.

Exactly what he said, just installed my new shifter 2 days ago. Rebolt old shifter handle and tug sideways. Don't worry you won't break anything except the seal.

You can put something in between the back of the shifter base and the hole in your tunnel and pry it that way. That's what I did. All you need to do is move it just a little towards that front and it will break that sill.

hey if you don't mind me asking... why did you go with the Pro 5.0 Shifter and not another one such as Steeda Tri-Ax???

I have a question after I got done installing my Steeda Tri-Ax the black shift boot and the shift bezel are no longer stuck together by whatever was holding it. I tried using some gasket maker to hold them back together but it didn't work anybody have any ideas on how to make them stay together again?

I have my boot pulled up over the handle because it was getting in-between the stop nut and shifter handle and kicking it out of 2, 4 and R. since I pulled it up i have had no problems.

went with the pro 5.0 becuase before i buaght it i asked the forum what was better and the results from every one that replied were abotu 10-3 pro 5.0 10 nad steeeda 3 and even the ones that had steeda siad 5.0 would be great also so i went with the pro 5.0 and i love it

IMO, the Pro 5.0 is a better shifter. Cant go wrong with either one, but I like the way the pro 5.0 feels. Ive driven a friends car with a Steeda Tri-ax and the shifts seem a bit sloppy. Nothing like the stock shifter, but still not as tight and solid as the Pro 5.0 I have on my car. As a side note for the people complaining about breaking the seal on your stock shifter, my gaskets eliminate this problem. I know many of you will not have to constantly remove and install your shifter, but if you ever have to, the gaskets really save time and hassle.
