Installing cams

Hey stangnet i got one of my cams in last night did the passenger side then my help had to leave. We did it the "easy" way by removing the valve covers and cam girdles and holding the cam gear. a couple things concern me though. first off was the torque sequence. I know that we torqued one bolt out of order do you think it will harm the cam? if so ill just re torque it. Next is when we were torquing the new cam bolt in we managed to turn the engine over a bit releasing compression. My question is will that affect the timing in any way when i go to install the cam on the driver side or will it be fine as long as both gears moved together. Im just getting nervous and anxious. you are supposed to torque in sequence but the one mess up wont hurt anything. as long as the both cam gears turned together you didn't screw anything up there either. let me give you a bit of advise on the drivers side one. the cam gear will not come off and go on as easy as the passenger side because of the cover. what i did and it worked great is take out the top few bolts on the cam cover and just pry gently between the cover and head. then the cam gear will be able to be put back on. good luck....take your time and everything will be just fine.

no. you will not need a tune, but it will not hurt, and you realy cant hear a difference at idle, but you will LOVE the top end compared to the npi cams.....

im so excited lol im just hoping i did everything correct. i don't see how the chain could have fell out of time so im hoping its good one thing i learned though, oil cams are as sharp as razor blades i have like 20 paper like cuts all over my hands lol

FINALLY finished. I got everything bolted back up tonight and started her up. I was really scared at first, when i started it it was skipping bad and the check engine light came on. I was sooo worried i messed up the timing. But after further investigation i found out that the little grounds on the coil packs hadn't been tightened down all the way. The car sounds smoother and i took it for a ride but couldn't open her up. I live in upstate new york like 10 miles from Canada and there was too much snow on the road. But overall i am very happy. Now next weeks project, installing my livernois PI intake

Good deal. It's always that much more satisfying to do your own work. Once you get the intake in the next step I'd go for is a tune. Increased 4 tenths and 6 MPH at the track after my tune.
