installing headers

I know that dr gas used to sell catted pipes for lt's, I assume they still do, but haven't seen their advertisement in the normal mags anymore. I know that mac has a catted h pipe, I was going to get that, but wanted and x pipe w/cats, was going to try to get a hold of dr.gas, but found a loop hole to get my car to pass.

Well Im Getting A Good Deal On A Bassani Catted Xpipe And Headers For 275.plus I Cant Find Anyone Selling A Catted Pipe For Lts.its Always Shorties.how Much Power Will I Lose?

On a stock car, not much. On a h/c/i or boosted car, maybe 8-10hp and the same in torque.

Are they equal length or standard headers. For your sake, I hope they are standard.

You are not gonna so much loose peak hp with the shorty header but don't let anyone kid you ..................................

LT's really make a difference in the low & mid range torque output which for a Street Car, is very desireable.

IMHO, I'd take the torque over the sound any day.

The xpipe is like new and the shorties are used.

So,grady are you saying i should stick with the LTs?

In other words ...............................

The difference between the two will not be so much in peak hp but in the torque output at low & mid rpm's.

You most likely will feel a loss of "push me back in the seat" (torque) if you go to the shortys.

The x-pipe will sound different that is for sure. I has a Bassani catted x-pipe when I had a milder combo with shortys. I did like the sound when goin up through the gears I must say, lol.

But for me, I don't care a rip about how my car sounds .............................

I want peeps to say :nice: ..............................

I thought I heard a Stang  ...............................

but when I turned around .................................

I didn't see one :D

I see,i think ill just get the bassani stuff for emissions and then put the other stuff back on.The catted hpipe and xpipe are to much money.

the bassani headers are equalength, are they going to be hard to put on?How much time should this process take me?

i hear the LT's are a pain in the ass to install. most people remove the stearing arm and have to jack up the passenger side of the engine. same would probably be true for removing them

might be worth it to just fork out the $$ for the new catted pipe

you can probably find it cheaper then the link i posted but that was just a quick search i did

They just about fall in place if you do them at the same time you got your heads off.

Installing the shorties will not be that hard. But you are moving in the wrong direction, AND you will have all the difficulty of working with LT headers. You need to get them out of there. I can't even imagine it would be much easier if you hack the crap out of them and take them out in peices.

MAC and BBK make mid pipes for LT headers - with cats. I would go that route long before going through all the headache that you would to install Lt headers only to lose the advantage.

Well i thought about it and im just going to get a catted midpipe instead.Just wondering, what if i get a used offroad xpipe and and then weld some CC in offroad hpipe i have on the car?Woud it be just about the same amount of money?
