I am in the market for a set of heads for my motor i am having built, and was wondering how hard it is to install intake and exhause valves in heads? I know i will need an valve spring compressor, but what else is needed? Comp makes a valve train kit, with springs and titanium retainers, what else do i need to do it, and is it something the average guy can do?

As long as youve got the correct springs to match the head, its no big deal.

your all forgetting the most important issue, Installed Spring Height. need a spring mic to measure installed height and then adjust it with hardened shims. Just slap some springs on and see what happens

Very true.

When I swapped out the springs on my P heads the kit that I got had a little tool to check the installed height of the springs and then you could adjust with the shims. It was the trickflow kit for Ford iron heads. Went on pretty smooth.
