Installing rail mount fuel pressure gauge...QUICK QUESTION

Im installing a fuel pressure gauge that mounts on the shrader valve. It says to release fuel pressure look in manual for instructions. I dont have my owners manual. Wondering what I have to do?

the safe way is to start the car then go in the trunk and on the left side punch the fuel shut off switch. The car will stall out and there will be no fuel in the system. Or you can push on the center of the shrader valve and the fuel will spray out of it untill there is no more pressure.

Yep, basically what he said. The latter I wouldn't recommend, but it works. Just sprays fuel all over the place, and who wants that.

After you push the button for the shut off switch, you will need to remove the wiring connector and reinstall it when you are ready to drive the car again. That resets the switch.

the wireing connector that hooks into the switch in my trunk you mean?

If your car has been sitting for awhile there is no fuel pressure.
But yes, unplug the switch or unplug the pump under the bumper. After you do crank the car over let it run until it stalls out. All the excess fuel in the rails is gone after that.

I just used a tiny screwdriver and a big rag.....

the switch in my trunk has a red button but it doesnt seem to acutally PRESS down. I havent started it in a few days just going to use the rag thechnique.

ya matt that little red button seemed to do ***** all for me too when i was installing my gauge, me and ian used the rag trick too

DO NOT OVERTIGTHEN IT. I dunno why I felt the need but I put the hurk on it and broke the valve and half of it broke off in the connectors for the gauge..Still dont have me a guage that works yet. (haven't been able to/or tried to find the right size connections)

I did the same thing, so I went with an autometer cowl mount gauge.

I figured I wasn't the only one. I just had to add that so hopefully others won't do it. I was tightening it and I told myself 1/4 turn more..started to do it and SNAP. DOH
