installing stock air filter need help urgent!!!!?

im installing my stock 03 mustang airfilter and airbox but when i tried to install my stock airfilter box to the maf i realized that their is a gap between the back of the airbox cover and the maf what goes between it i need help asap!!! please help i don't know what im doing wrong or if im missing a part from my stock set up

did it have a cold air intake on it before , if so , is the screen still there , its likely that the screen got done away with when the CAI was installed , if so , one word JUNKYARD
