Installing Struts

I'm installing new struts and am haveing some difficulty tightening the strut piston nut on the upper strut mount. Are there any tips/tricks to stop the piston from turning as I tighten this nut?????

Is it because the shaft is turning too when you try to tighten it? If it is (I had the same problem), you can take a large flathead screwdriver and stick in the slot on top of the shaft to hold it still and tighten the nut with a wrench. I had to do that on both my 90 and my 04.

there is usually 2 flats on the sides of the top for holding with a wrench...or like the above mentioned slot

Shocks have flats and the struts have slots. I use a leverage-bar to hold the strut via the slot.

I just used my Impact Gun on it with the Car on the Ground.

I just put in my flaming river rack, steering shaft, lakewood 70/30's and hotchkis C+C plates tonight.

The strut part was easy. Crescent wrench to hold the top of strut in position and I believe a 24mm wrench to tighten on the nut.
