Installing T5...quick question

I am putting the t5 back in my car. I have one quick question. Does the input shaft need to be greased? I can't remember if I did that last time.

There should be a light coat of grease on the bearing retainer shaft. I've also put a light film on the splines before. That part did not seem to make any difference one way or the other. I suppose it might help with installation just a hair.

Thanks for the fast reply. I want to do this today because it is almost 60* outside. I was thinking of putting a light coat on the splines. I am going to have someone turn the slip yoke to help line the input shaft up.

Also, there's a couple of marks on the input shaft bearing. Is that ok?

Now I have a couple questions. I tried putting it in and it doesn't look like the throwout bearing is lined up with the clutch (about half inch to the right of it). Do I have to take the bellhousing off and line it back up or can I just try again. I don't want to take all the back off again.

Also, there's a couple of marks on the input shaft bearing. Is that ok?

if you mean the pilot bearing, that is normal. people use the divots to grab onto the bearing to remove it.
