Hello,
i am Patrick from Landau/Germany.
I own a 66 Mustang Coupe with a 5.0HO and AOD Transmission.
Now i wanted to install a TransGo SK AOD-H Shift Kit.

But i have several problems with installation and i hope
anybody here can help me.
In Germany it is really hard to become technical help for
this transmission or the shift kit.

To the questions:

I have a problem with the Step 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8.
I hope you can help me.

Step 3 Checkball Locations
Here i should replace the checkball #6 with
a orifice valve and a spring. But on position
#6 was no checkball in my Valve Body.
Should i install the valve anyway?

Step 4 Separator Plate
Here i should drill bigger holes in position
C, B, E & K.

E has orignally 4.8mm, K 3.1mm and i should drill
1.4mm. What should i do, the holes are to wide?
Also i should drill C with 1.4mm and after this install
a cotter pin in the hole. Is this right? Hole C
is original 0.8mm.

Step 6 3-4 Accmulator:
Here i should install a NEW spring on the piston.
But there was NO spring originally on the piston.
In my ATSG handbook there is a note that there
can be a spring on the piston or not, depend on
the model of the aod
Should i install the spring, even tough there were
originally no spring installed?

Step 7 2-3 Accumulator Piston
Here i should install a new seal on the piston if
there is a plastic piston. If there is a aluminium
piston i shouldn`t install the new seal.
I have a plastic piston, so i installed the seal.
The new seal is from rubber, the old was an open
teflon seal. Now it is difficult to install the piston,
with the teflon seal it slides easy in the transmission,
with the new seal it is really tight. I can not move
it with my hands. Is this ok?

Step 8 Overdrive Servo:
Here is should install a washer between the cover and the piston.
I can not fasten the washer, it`s slacky between the cover
and piston. Ok?

Best Regards
Patrick

If you can't get an answer here I would also post up on the forums at www.clickclickracing.com in the auto transmission forums. There are lots of guys over there that have a vast wealth of info on AODs and shift kits.

It has been such a long time since I put the transgo kit in my 93 that I don't want to give you any wrong info that will cause you problems.
