I have a 65 mustang convertible with a recently installed air conditioner.

One of the AC lines (pipes?) inside the passenger compartment gets really cold and condensation drips from it onto the driver's side floor.

Most of the lines that get this cold were coated with a sticky black tar like insulating material that prevents the condensation, but there was not enough included with the AC kit to complete the job.

What is this compound and where can I get it? Two or three of the Mustang supply houses did not know what it is. Autozone and Carquest did not have it, either, although Carquest had something in a big roll that may have worked.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

It's called cork tape. It's black tar with tiny bits of cork mixed with it for insulation. My CarQuest has it. EVERSEAL is one brand
You might search online for a seller.

You can also use Black foam tape. It comes in a roll, looks like a extra-large roll of black duct tape. We use it to insulate copper refrigeration lines to prevent sweating and it is only sticky on one side, making it look alot nicer and much easier to work with. You can get it at Johnstone Supply, maybe ACE hardware. it will be in the plumbing section.

Another possibility is small diameter foam pipe insulation and a bag of small zip-ties. This is what I more commonly see on home A/C lines.
