That's not the right sensor for that plug. It doesn't line up. There are two sensors that look the same....one is the IAT and one is the ECT...one has a little wire with a blob on the end ( IAT )...one has a enclosed brass end ( ECT )

The IAT screws into air passage....ECT screws into coolant passage.
Not sure what you did. But the temp gauge doesn't work off of the ECT sensor.It does look like you switched the sensor positions. My car was the same way when I bought it. It'll run pig rich if you leave it like that, and your temp gauge won't work. It'll also ruin your ACT sensor. It'll also not run correctly.
