Hey, ill be swapping out my 82gt motor with a 86 crown vick 5.0 And would like to upgrade the Intake manifold while i am upgradeing. Ill still be using the stock carb on it as i like to 2 barrels low end torque over the 4 barrel higer end power (or so i hear anyway) I hear the best for low and midrange torque is a dual plane long runner intake. Is that right? And if so can anyone suggest where i can get one? I plan on putting on unequal length shorties also and would like to upgrade to a bigger carb sometime in the future, like a 600 or so. I am looking for some E7 Heads also, but i dont know what years these heads were on, and if they came on any other 5.0's other than the stang. Up in maine theres more crown vics with 5.0's that mustangs, so if they have the heads on them that would be great. Thanx for any help.

I always thouht that dual plane intakes were used for high RPM applications. Intakes such as the Torker II and Air gaps by edelbrock are higher RPM dual planes. The heads are on 87-93 mustang 302's and truck engines (302). Try to find some heads from a 97 explorer 302, they are the GT40P's same with the intake.

I Have a book on building stroker engines and i belive it says that a dual plane long runner is better for torque. So an 87-93 trucks have the e7? what about crown vics? Thanx for the help man.

Single plane manifolds are for high RPM, high horsepower. Dual plane, as was installed on 99.999% of factory built V-8s are more for street driven cars that need drivability and torque.

So is there a better one for low to mid torque that i can get? Ive only got a 2 barrel on the car, and it will stay that way for a while. Any suggestions?

Oh yeah that's right, I had my stuff all bassackwards. Check out edelbrock or holly, I think they are called weiand. you can get adapter plates to keep a 2bbl carb on a 4bbl intake. I think the best ones out there are the air gaps by edelbrock, but I could be wrong, it has been known to happen.

Silver... carb'd?? There is NOT a better manifold for street strip/ traffic lite driving than the Weiand Stealth !! 165.00 in the catalogs!! Power with a 2V... aint NO WAY!! go to a 600 cfm 4V ( holley list 1850) its a vac secondary and opens when the engine needs it!! also the 2V is worse on Mileage!! Oh yeah... you keep slaming it to the floor to get moving... but the 4V can be bad for the same reason... LOL !!

Any small holley is cheap and easy to O/H even you DAD can help on a holley!! CVics have the 86 Heads and are NOT E7s... it has to be a TRUCK or a "HO" engine...cool??

Keep warm up there... LOL its be 95 here!!
