I've been wanting to upgrade my intake manifold (along with MAI and TB) and have been shopping on Summit and have been really looking at the Trick Flow Track/Street Heat series and the Edelbrocks, especially the Eddie Victor series. Why is the Eddelbrock Victor only $300 and the TF $500? Which would you reccomend performance wise? Eventually wanting to upgrade heads also.
Thanks :)

The tfs intake is a nice piece. Had a track heat on my old car, never had any problems and they work well with a lot of other aftermarket parts. Never had an Eddie EFI intake but my Vic jr is pretty nice also. Knowing the rest of your planned combo would help

I just plan on keeping most the mods in my sig, and sometime in the future getting a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads and then just MAI and TB to match the intake... Thanks!

Hard to beat a GT40, or Cobra intake on a E7-headed car. If you're keeping fox-displacement, those intakes will take you to a little over 300rwhp, too. That's the route I'd recommend.

In that case wait until you're ready to upgrade the heads and do heads/intake at the same time. The regular Edelbrock Performer works brilliantly with stock or ported E7s but if you're planning to get TFS 170cc heads, I suggest you go for the Holley Systemax intake rather than the TFS Track Heat.

FastDriver, are you saying with my ported E7 heads the Cobra intake would take me close to 300 hp? Or is that with some better heads?
And thanks bullitt for your advice as well

that has to be waht he meant, cause u wont get 300rwhp from just ading a intake, theres no intake out there that will do that. Id recomend the Professional Products Typhoon Intake, it flows better than the cobra/GT40, and almost as good as trickflow.

I think you'll notice a loss in low-end with a typhoon vs. a Cobra/GT40, but it'll pick up a little up top. I think that makes the Cobra/GT40/Explorer intake a better match for E7s.

To answer your question, all I meant was that they'll support more than 300rwhp as my cobra intaked 302 made 320rwhp. I had AFR165s, custom cam, BBK 1 5/8" long-tubes, and all the little bolt-ons to go with them. You won't make that kind of power with E7s.

OOOOh!! I gotcha! That makes alot more sense.

if the minimum cross section doesnt change and the head is the restriction; like on a stock longblock, and the cam and displacement doesnt change: how would opening up the cross section that feeds the heads (assuming only a negligible difference in runner length) hurt power anywhere in the powerband if nothing else is changed? it wont. if it does something else is wrong.

if it did, the argument for blowers and turbos would go out the window.

^^^Exactly :nice:

I like the BBK intake. Never used 1 or new any1 thats used 1, and for the price BBK shud be the best on the market! I doubt they are though. To the OP, what heads do u think u'll eventually go with?

Your looking at the victor efi lower intake, which is referred to as a spyder...they require fuel rails and an elbow and are way to large.

Im with Clement...Holley and be done

If Typhoon is junk then the GT40s must be junk to, right? They have very similar flow rates. I beg to differ about typhoon bein junk. To the OP, In reallity I wud prob go with the Victor intake.

The Victor efi or Victor 5.0 is way, way to much intake for the combo he is building.

Ive cleaned up Typhoons and had great results, but I stick with my choice for the Holley.

For the budget racer the typhoon intake is the best bang for the buck out there, I still have mine and it's still going strong, anyone that's ever owned one knows their actually good intakes to port despite the casting flash and clean up work, the runners are actually pretty thick, but it gets a bad wrap due to alot of internet racers hating on it because its a knockoff. As already stated the victor series and spyder style are over kill for your setup.

my bad, i have neglected to read all of the OPs mods. I'll have to back up and agree with Rick91GT on that, the victor intake wud b way to much for tht setup. I believe the typhoon wud be the great choice for that setup!!
