My buddy just got his 02 gt. he wants to do intake, plenum, and tb. he will need a new tune at the same time right? will it hurt to drive around with the intake mods and no tune?

as far as the diablosport tuner goes, does it come with a base tune, or does the user have to do the wholee thing? how easy is it to work with? and is there any writeups about tuning with it? post links or any information/experience you have had with the diablosport. thanks so much guys.

He will not need a tune. Also, all the mods you mention but the Predator are a waste of money IMHO.

The Predator comes with a tune, you tell DiabloSport what mods you have and they set you up with a tune.

The Diablo is very easy to work with, you will like it.

its ok not to have a tune, but the tune w/ maximize the gains and set the computer for the increased air flow.
another option is to have a custom tune burned. basically, you give your cars info (year, motor, tranny, mods etc..) to a tuner and they send you a chip in the mail. Contact Tim at MPH for a good mail order tune :nice: www.modularpowerhouse.com

before starting the install, make sure the battery is disconnected though.

my diablo sport predator is neat,i have an auto so i adjusted trans along with making power from leaning the car and giving it alot more timing some other features too, custom tunes can be loaded into it also,i took out my tune the other day just to see the difference and the car was alot slower and unresponsive, but it also gives you enough settings to kill your engine for good,so if you get one dont adjust engine functions over diablos set tune parameters,i bumped the tranny all the way up and rev limiter is 6000 now shift points are changed and alot more firm look at diablo sports website at all the options, hope this helps, also no tuner will ever match up to a pro at the dyno, get all your mods and throw them in a corner and put them on at once, then save your money and get a tune when you have all your goodies installed.

I am not a big fan of the Predator as they tend to have issues with them. Some of them, not all of them come very lean and the timing tend to be off. When you compensate it by adding fuel it throws it off under load and causes a non adaptive tune.
Some of the tuners have had issues with their tech support too as some of the software locks up too.

I have had great luck with SCT.

Had a Diablo stuck up your bung????
Sounds like it, huh? There's a lot of hate and brand loyalty going on here without really providing data to back it up. They do have decent tech support if you go to their support forum on www.modularfords.com. The ones that respond to your email at www.diablosport.com suck donkey balls. These are the same ones that answer the tech support phone.

Correction to a post above: The Predator comes loaded with tunes for mildly modified cars already. You do not have to tell the vendor what mods you have.

Try this article: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=535379

original poster- I'd suggest you or the owner do a search.
I assume by Intake you mean a CAI, and a plenum, TB combo.
If you add the prices up and the HP up he may decide something else is worth it. If you search on here or other boards you can find some good info on all those items and most of the brands.
Even though I hate to agree with Kilgore I think I have to on this one the $ to HP increase just isn't there IMO.
As for tuners, get whichever you have a locally aval dyno tuner for. If you have a local SCT then SCT if it's daiblo the daiblo.

Also independent Diablo CMR dealers provide excellent customer support. You are correct about directly contacting DiabloSport, the customer care there blows.
