intake opinions wanted

i currently own a 94 cobra and am wondering which direction if any i could go on my intake , maf ,and injectors with my current set before i purchase a new twEECer or go to the A9L setup i have the stock cobra intake and 24lb. injectors with a stock throttle body and a C&L cold air kit...........let the suggestions flow please:hail2:

Personally I would just port the lower and do a custom cam. I think I would also use a lightning maf and a tweecer to tune it. You should be good for 300rwhp with that. I am betting you are around 280 now. This is just me though. These are things I am planning to do myself later on.

I'd honestly go with a RPM 2 intake, 70-75mm TB, and a custom cam. I've got a Performer intake with your heads and feel it is too small. You will have to work with the RPM 2 to match up to the runners of the 165 heads but I think it will make nice power. I made 328rwhp and 337rwtq.

The performer rpm 2 is a good intake but it will sacrifice some torque and gain hp in the upper rpm's but it's all up to the original poster and what he wants to do with the car.

A ported cobra intake will work similarly to the performer intake but give up a small amount of high rpm power. I don't know that the power gain with the performer would be worth the cost of the intake though since the original poster already has the cobra.

Looks like you already have a pretty good combo as it is but you could improve it as follows:

Send your Cobra intake to Tmoss for him to port it.
Add a 70 or 75mm TB.
Swap in a better cam. I'd suggest the CompCams XE270HR-12 (since you already have 1.7 RR's) with upgraded valve springs for the extra valve lift.

I don't know about you but I don't race any of my cars in the lower RPMS. Also on a serious note it has been shown time and time again that the RPM 2 doesn't take any power away from the lower rpms. I regret going small on my 5.0 and feel it would have been quite a bit faster with bigger heads/bigger intake/and alittle more aggressive cam. Maybe you guys like to baby foot around it but I like going fast!

Its no secret that longer runner intakes have more torque down low but give up
a bit up top :D

The mid length runner intakes offer a nice compromise as I see it and due to that fact, I run one myself :nice:

As always, its all about application ;)

If you drag race then its all about WOT.

If you build for the street, then you want a nice flat torque curve :Word:

You can use LT's to make up for a bit of low end loss a shorter runner intake will
most likely cause.

also

A custom cam can be used to help with low end loss.

and

A custom tune where the spark table has been worked over can help as well.

unless you plan to supercharge that beast, keep the TB at 70mm. These motors dont like too much air. I found this the hard way.

:nono::ban:

If you can find one, I think the original RPM I intake would be perfect for you. An RPM2 may work, but they have significantly larger port cross sections so you'll have to take that into account. Not sure how the letter cam will react to this.
