Intake Options

Recently purchased this car with several mods already done to it, but it's still running the stock heads and stock upper and lower intake. I'll be replacing the heads for AFR's, but I'm wondering what to throw on it for an intake. I like the BBK SSI Intake but I've never seen a 5.0 with it so I was wondering if it's any good or not? Then the other options are Trick Flow, Holley, Edelbrock, Etc. Please let me know what you guys are running or what's supposed to be a good intake to eventually run with AFR heads.

When I get my new motor, im going with the gt40 intake. I was thinking of going with the bbk, but just can't spend that much on an intake. But in the 5.0 mag, the bbk performed very well amongst the other intakes. It looks good also and you can supposedly get the valve covers off without pulling the upper plenum. Good luck deciding.

I would stay away from the slick looking BBK intake. The article that tested the BBK was a bit stacked from the setup they used. Depending on what you are going for and budget... Edelbrock, GT40/cobra/Explorer are great and proven for street cars with good low-mid torque. Typically TFS intakes don't truely shine till you hit 3kish rpm. It really depends on what characteristics you want from the car.

Avoid the SSI intake for the street. Crappy fit (had to grind into the hood for clearance), too short for tall valve cover on the pass side, and you will lose a lot of bottom end.

I swapped in a Victor 5.0 for my old Typhoon last month, that thing is ****ing brutal let me tell you! It's a little soft until 2500rpm but then it really comes on hard. It also runs a lot cooler because it gets rid of the EGR system and has the "air gap" lower. I can run the engine hard as long as I want and the TB and upper will still be barely warm.

i have the bbk ssi intake its not as bad as everybody says i have it on my 347 and it made an improvment over the saleen intake i had on there its just a bitch to put on but runs great waitin to get the car tuned again b4 i can get sum new numbers

I got an exlorer off ebay for $150 like new.Great deal and flows near or at the gt40 level.
