Intake??? what do get?

I used to have MAC cold air intake on my previous mustang..now on the new one i got i want to start doing some mods but i dont know if i want to go with MAC cold air intake again. I dont think i want to go with stainless steel again...it gets so HOT!!! and i dont know how it can help get cooler air in when its metal. I was thinking about something new? any suggestion? what do you think is the best?

i agree that that systems like MAC and Steeda(which i have) get pretty hot, a lot of people here will suggest keeping your stock plastic set up. It depends if your going to do serious modding IMO, in that case get a 80mm mass air w/ MAC or sumthing, then 70-75mm TB and plenum.
P.S. you could custom fab some plastic set up to the side air hole if u want, iv seen it done ill look for pics

i see where your comming from with the pipe being made of metal and getting hot but this is what you got to look at. CAIs which stay in the engine bay are not true CAIs. Find one that fits in the fender well with a heat sheild. The trick is it sucks cold air as you drive not 300 degree air from your engine bay. The metal intakes also are smooth alowing air to flow more efficiently and quickly. It hits you TB quick enough that you pipe heating up really doenst heat the air that much. Even If it does you got to think your forceing air thats like 70 degrees up there even if it heated up its still alot cooler then the engine is and alot less restricted.

I've heard a lot of issues can be caused by that bend for the CAI's that go in the fenderwell. But CAI's don't dramatically effect our cars anyways.. we dont gain 50 hp like civics do ;) lol I went for what I thought looked nice, which is why I have a steeda intake.

I love my MAC it sounds good when I am out cruising around. Now don't get me wrong, I would change it in a heartbeat for the sound of a supercharger, but it will work for now.

Plus, when you lift your hood the MAC CAI is alot more impressive looking then the stock one.

Go with JLT. I have had them before i have had bbk i have had mac. You will not beat the JLT. You need to take some things in to account when thinking about a CAI

1.) You want a CAI that does not have any 90 degree bends (it slows down the flow)
2.) You want one that brings the air from the fender (Colder air is better)
3.) You want a CAI that has a bigger diamater pipe so it pulls more air.

Think of it this way if you have a larger mass air meeter, Throttle body and all of that what is it feeding off of? The air that comes in threw a cheap piece of plastic that ford gives you with a filter in it.

Another thing to think about is if you want to spend the money and get something that looks good or something that works or if you even want to spend money. I would spend a little more and get the JLT that looks good and works great.
