intake

You've got an '01? Isn't that the year they went with the aluminum crossover? It may never crack. There's really no preventative maintenance for it even if it does. Just lay some money aside in your budget for a new intake as a precaution.

They didn't replace them until late 2001. But, yea, if he has the aluminum crossover, it will probably never crack. And I know someone with a 99 that has 130,000+ miles with the plastic intake with no problems. But mine cracked at <80,000 miles.

But no, replacing your PI plastic intake with the PI intake w/ aluminum crossover will not help performance. It sure does on a 98 NPI, though! :D

i had the plastic crossover as well it didnt crack but i replaced it anyways. I bought the OEM manifold with the aluminum crossover from RPM outlet for $180 but I know people want to avoid that place like the plague.

Don't bother unless it cracks.

You can pick one up from a junkyard with an aluminum crossover for 50 bucks or so if it does, and it takes 1-2 hours to replace. Your intake has nothing to do with the "sluggishness" of your car.
