I am running an air to air intercooler setup on my Vortech SC (cranking 12-14# at blower). Which size tubing is ideal?

I pieced together a kit with a decent intercooler with 2.5 inlet and outlets, and two sets of 2.5 " universal tubing. I called my tuner and he said 2.5 was too restrictive and to go with 3". I understand I can use reducers for the 3" to the 2.5" inlet and outlet on the intercooler, but I just spent 200 bucks on the 2.5 tubing and would like to make it work haha. Any opinion would be apreciated!!!
THANKS!!

i thought 2.75 was best so that you dont lose too much velosity and also not too restrictive... but i guess it also depends on what your combo is

stock h/c/i or aftermarket goodies?

The intercooler was designed with the 2 1/2 inlet/outlets & can only flow so much....regardless of how much air you put in front of it (inlet/outlet). If the intercooler actually has 2 1/2 inlets/outlets, stick with that size. If you begin to 'stack' air inside the 3" tubing trying to force it thru a cooler with only 2 1/2 inlets/outlets, eventually something will have to give..usually the couplings if your lucky ;-) If the intercooler had 3" inlets/outlets, you should stick with those sizes as well.

Good luck

Bobby
