Oh geez, silly question as everybody knows it'll be 96-98!



I'm partial to the smoother bodylines of the 96-98, and since most of the car is the same from 99-04, why not? Our convertible motors are the same, so 96-98 up/down takes just as long as 99-04s (05+ really make us look silly though).

They're rather easy to work on, very reliable, and if not, well, at least our parts are cheap. I've got about 250k between both of mine, and wouldn't do it in any other car.

The 99-04's look so much better IMO. Aside from looks (as previously mentioned), the 99+ cars have the PI heads/cams/intake and a lot more power. I test drove a 98 GT prior to purchasing my 02 and it was like driving a GEO Metro compared to my 02.

I say definitely go with a 99-04 vert.

I drive my 2003 GT all winter on all season tires. BFG KDWS's. But winter tires are better. Even so, I find the main thing that can be a problem is ground clearance - 5-6" of snow means the car bottoms out and I can't move.

I also found 100 pounds of cat litter in the trunk makes a huge improvement on slick roads.

Around here after a snow the ditches fill up with FWD econoboxes, minivans, and 4x4 SUV's, it's not like it's the type of vehicle that keeps you on the road. Driver and tires make all the difference.

IMO 99-04's have much more of a "badass"/"we mean business" look to them. I've never been a fan of the aero style as it just looks to "cute-si" for me. too many girls trolling around in aero v6's for my liking.

If you want a vert get a 99+. They just look a touch better. If you want a coupe get either one because both can be dead sexy cars. I have seen 94-98 verts look good as well but prefer the 99+.

I'd definitely go 01-04 due to the mid-style update (especially inside).

I had an 02 and it was a hoot.

I have always wanted a set of plasmas for my car. I would have got another color but love the style of them.

I don't really like having my '98 GT lumped into the same category as a Geo Metro. We're all stangers, what ever happened to mutual respect?

Not very difficult to imagine a coupe as a vert

thanks for all the great insights and pictures! I have a lead on an 01 vert GT with 108km on the clock.. thats like 60K miles for you "americans" lol...

I understand the plastic intake manifold is prone to cracking, what am I looking for if i am interested in it.. is it an external leak? what is the out of warranty fix cost? and what other "known" issues am i looking for.

I'm on the fence; I like both the Aero and New Edge styles. The sleeker lines of the 94-98s are really sexy but the bulldog muscle of the 99-04's are hard to beat.... It was a hard choice but I picked up a 2000. The extra performance of the PI engine is what sold me.

Does anyone have pics of the interior differences from 99-02 or the aero interiors?

They may not be fast out of the box, but with the PI stuff thrown onto them they can become quite potent.

A few of my pile...





No C/C plates... Check the negative camber haha.

this guy is in my local club in the Chicagoland area. one of my most favorite mustangs ever. i actually hung out with him on wednesday night. its got a blower on it and everything. this is a rather old pic as it sits MUCH lower now and has a cowl hood. i will see if i can find more recent pics.
