Anyhoo, I was pricing out solid lifters, and like many 4.6 parts, I found it a little hard to swallow so much of a price tag for what I was getting. Fox Lake, though they do GREAT work, wants $400 for a set of adjustable lifter slugs. I did a little of my own quoting, since I'm in the fabricaion business, and I was able to get a set made for a bit under what F.L. wanted - black-oxide coated and all. I have yet to run the engine, but the lifters installed perfectly. 3 parts - lifter base, lifter post, and jam-nut. The base and post are 1020 CRS with black oxide coating, and the jam nut is Stainless. These parts are simple - not rocket science. I have used Solid Lifters in MANY 2.3 setups, Chev (I know... ugh) 2.2 s-10 setups, and a couple 302's.
My question is: Who would be GENUINELY interested in a set? No need to remove the cams - I can provide a crow's-foot wrench if needed for a small price. I'm trying to gage interest before I get any quantity quoted and produced. I will sell these on Egay for those that want a secure place to do business (understandable, especially since I have no history here). Really, all I'm doing now is trying to figure out how many I should make. These work for the 96-04 heads, and all 4V heads. Not sure on the new 05+ 3V heads - somebody tell me (please) if you know.
