I recently picked up some nice used recaros for my fox & I was thinking about getting them recovered to match my porno red interior... I know, I know, everyone hates porno red, but I actually like it & I am trying to do something out of the ordinary....

I am thinking about doing a black with red inserts, similar to 10th anniversary Cobra seats, & I would also do the same in the rear. Not sure if i want to go with cloth, or leather, but I am considering doing black leather with red micro suede inserts, & picking up a new black carpet from 50Resto as well to break up the red more..

My other option would be to swap out all the red interior for grey, & keep the Recaro seats as is, because they are in great shape, & I like the material... Of course with this option, I will have to find super clean grey interior parts, because my red is in near mint shape, & I will most likely have to do a rear seat delete, because I will never find material that will match the Recaro material on the front seats...

Im sure swapping to all grey will actually be cheaper than recovering the seats, because leather & custom interior usually isn't cheap....

What do you guys think???

What did the seats come out of?

I got them out of a 91 4 door Jetta, but since they have the latches to flip the seats forward, they must originally be from a 2 door, so I think they were out of an early 90's VW Golf GTI...

They do pop up from time to time in the yards, but they move fast...

Back from the dead...

My buddy Red Daemon from 4.6 Talk got around to doing my photoshops of my planned interior upgrades. Needless to say, the dude has skills!!! Here are the plans....

Original Recaro's...

Photoshop...

when I get the Recaro seats recovered, the fabric won't be velour, but it will be either cloth or leather, not sure yet... I think the chop looks sick

Here is my current interior...

Here is what I would like to achieve when its all said & done.... Of course the stock seats will be replaced with the Recaro's, & it won't look pink (the sun was shining bright on my interior LOL).... Also not sure about the black armrest, but I think the door panels need something to break up the red?

Without the black armrest...

What do you guys think?

Interior pictures are the same. Need the black armrest for an accurate opinion.

HUH? You don't see the 2 different pics of the chopped interior? 1 with a black armrest on the door panel, & 1 without? I didn't mean the center console armrest...

Ah, I consider the center console an armrest as I drive left handed.

I like the photoshops of the seats. Instead of the black arm rests, maybe you could do something like I did in the picture below. It's cheaper than buying new armrests... but your way might look better.

I actually like that better, how did you do that? I might do that along with a black armrest?

i like my red interior too=-). The car is a 93 4 banger coupe, getting a 357w before years end. Im still thinking I want to do somethign like those red/black corbeau seats I posted up back when U made this thread. Granted they might not match the stock interior. But they sure will look sweet in there! Im thinking of doign the black carpet as well, cause id like to rip off the old carpet and cover the entire floor with RAAMat

If you take the door panel off and look at the back side of it, the two panels that I blacked out are connected to the door panel by a bunch of metal tabs that are bent over so they won't pull through the door panel.

All I did was take the door panel off, straighten those metal tabs and the accent piece above the armrest and the sagging map pockets pulled right out.

Then I bought some black fabric and covered the front of accent pieces and stapled the edges of the fabric to the back of the pieces and stuck them back on. I put my fabric on right over top of the tweed fabric Ford used. You'll need to get some fairly short staples so they don't poke through the front.

I think the black armrests would look great. I'm saving up for some for my car.

Honestly, i love your interior as is. I wouldn't even change the seats. I know everyone hates porno red, but for your car it works. Plus, your interior is in GREAT condition.

I HAD porno red in my car, I had the base model 4-banger seats. It was in MINT condition though..a 10 out of 10, just like yours. I swapped in a black interior that was maybe a 7 out of 10. Everyone ohh and ahhed over the black interior, but if didnt have the OEM fit and finish like the stock red, or your interior does. I had to spend more money tracking down MINT black peices to even begin to get my black interior up to an 8 or 9 out of 10. Needs a few more things to be perfect

That's why i always say i'd rather have a MINT red interior over a so-so grey or black interior anyday. But seriously, your car kicks ass...both of them

Thanks. I agree with you that it is better to have clean red, over so so black & grey...

The thing that really makes me want to change things up is, I want better seats that offer more support, similar to my stock Mach seats. These recaros fit the bill, but they are grey & don't match. I dunno if they will look good in all red, but I might look into that too...

Thanks again for the compliments...

Thanks for that info. I went out to the garage & checked out my door panels, but mine look to be 1 piece because they don't have a tweed insert, its all vinyl & looks like it doesn't seperate...

What year is your car?

So which version looks better guys?

Had another chop done with the door panel insert done instead of the armrest. I like this look better...

Here is a chop with the stock red carpet....
