This is what i have noticed since I have owned my 2002 S281 N/A for the past year. I always here my buddies talking about getting into races, see all the posts on other mustang sites of racing. In the past year, I have yet to have somebody pull up and rev on me and try to race. I have cars come up and just check out my car while driving but never do anything. Even if I rev, they will back off. I think it must be the intimidation factor of the Saleen. Do most people that dont know about the car think they are all supercharged 1000HP beasts? I have to admit, thats what i thought until i got my car. I just find it funny. My car isnt fast, but i guess it sure looks quick.

Anybody else ever notice this?

No I tell you what ever since I got mine every one wants to race me I had a dodge neon (not the SRT) every time he sees me he would rev is little fart sounding pipe at me so I turned around met him at a light and was going to race him well he did not want to race anymore but he said one of his buddies did for $1000, I asked him what it was and he told me it was a stock dodge neon right off the show room floor, so im like yeah right this guy is not telling me something like it is the SRT4 with nitrous or something. Because who is going to put up $1000 using a stock car or maybe he did not know mine was S/C. and then I allways get the same mustang GT rev on me also and another KB S/C GT rev on me to he would probley take me though. So I guess I would be the exact oppiste of you spederman I did have a guy in a new corvett pull up to me the other day and he rolled down his window and said nice Saleen.

lol..ya i get the same aswell...the only people who want to race me or the old guys in the old guys car..guess its just for shytes and giggles to them.. I think they just want to see how quick the saleen can move..other than that no other cars seem to ever want to race..People would try to race me in my 99GT all the time but the saleen is a totally different story..lol...There is 1 newer cobra here that wants to race me bad.....he got like 510rw but he feels im a threat to him in the area and has to race me to see.. I just lauggh and it pisses him off cause its killign him if im actually quickerthan him... It s fun to play it up with him.... Its funny tho how people do think saleens are Incredibly quick...its just too bad they made the 03 04 supercharged cobras..we would have alot more respect

Yea, I get that all the time. Ill pull up next to a car and they'll get on it for lik 2 seconds and then when I go thy give up. My girlfriend is with me most of the time too, and even she says they must think its supercharged(not yet, but 2.2KB on order). The other funny thing is he young kids that are driving in the opposite direction who have no problem revving he sh!* out of their honda or srt but when u pull up nex to them wont even look over at you. The only car Ive really even got to race is my g/f's 99 m3. Pretty quick for a girls car.(chipped, cat-back supersprint, and CAI) I did have some influence over her though.

Yeah, damn those 03/04 Cobras. Quit being so freaking fast.

And with me, before I traded in my G35 coupe for the saleen, everybody in the world would try and race me. I couldnt go a few blocks with somebody in my face. Too bad it wasnt quicker since it was an auto. It was a nice car though, but i love my saleen a lot more.

I have had maybe 1 or 2 people rev at me in the past couple of years in the saleen. The 96 cobra before that had people wanting to race me all the time.

Hardly a challenge here, either. In over six years of ownership, I have had one sleeper, blown Suburban try to run me and a joker in a Ranger but that’s it.

Speaking of spederman's G35, no one has hassled me in our sedan either. I guess it's an unassuming car. That's fine with me though.

I use to get all kinds of ricer clowns wanting to race when I had my jetta GLX, but now that I have the Saleen it still happens (although not as often), its just a much better class of car. I've had a few run-ins with Z06's, a BMW M5, a Mercedes SL55, etc. I don't street race mind you. Ah, let's just say we accelerated quickly together.

But last night I actually had a guy in a POS honda accord try to rev on me in traffic, not worth my time.

I get hassled by imports all the time! Very rarely does a Mustang, Camaro, or Vette try to start a race. I am pretty much left in peace except when the fart muffler crowd pulls up next to me in traffic!

my 89 Saleen gets no respect either. its only a mere 225 stock, but it will leave their A$$ in the twistys: nice: .Now my cobra is different no one wants to play with the snake

I am still interested in getting another N/A car that I can really play with cams, and porting cylinderheads. I should have kept my 02 for that but I really rode her hard. Kens car has been inspiration for a long time.
