i am thinking about putting an IRS out of a newer cobra in my car but
im not sure if its worth the trouble to install or if i will get enough
performance out of it compared to a good 3-link setup wit a solid axle.
price is a concern also. i already have the stock v8 rearend and an 8.8
out of a 91 gt that i could use. unless the 9'' is just the way to go.

It really depends on how you will use the car. Drag racing I would go with the 9 or the 8.8 is quite strong as well. The 8 inch is just for cruising with less than 350 hp and the IRS has some wow factor but it will shine on the road course. For install information on the 03 IRS in a early mustang go to

I'm ramping up to do this swap in my '67 Fastback test car and in a customer's car as well. I'll post pics when I get underway. Where are you located?

Talk to Dave at DVS like Rhyno said, he's a great guy and will give you all the info/parts you need.

im in st. augustine , fl.

i know you have to flare the wheel wells
because the irs is a little wider.
i have a 331 stroker with trick flow heads
and an air gap intake but no cam or carb. yet.
i havent seen many old mustangs around here that arent original or close to it.
so some pics. would be great

actually on the 67 you won't have to flare the fenders, you might have to roll the fender lips on the inside but not flare them. if you had a 65-66 then you would have to flare them as they are quite a bit narrower than the later cars
